Although Carter is very happy in this picture (please excuse the nasty face) :), he was NOT happy at the doctor's office yesterday! I don't know if any of your kids freak out at the doctor, but Carter basically has a panic attack the second he sees a nurse coming at him. Hopefully we will grow out of this soon...it's quite exhausting!
Overall the appointment went really well though. They were able to give a clear diagnosis, which is such a blessing. I didn't want to have to make any decisions if something was borderline. So it turns out he needs tubes in his ears and his adenoids removed. His adenoids are oversized, filled with mucus, and restricting his nasal passages. The doctor said that because he has fluid on his ears, his hearing has been reduced to 30 decibels less than the average person...not really sure how much that is. But she said that he will develop a speech delay and/or speech impediments if the fluid is not removed and would end up in speech therapy.
We are sad that he needs surgery, but we are sooooo thankful that we caught it early before any problems/delays occur. I am supposed to call Monday morning and schedule the surgery. Hopefully we can get it scheduled well before Cooper's arrival!
If you get a chance, say a little prayer for Carter. We want a smooth surgery with no hiccups! Thanks so much!
