Good times and keeping it real in the Baby Pit

A bribed picture before a play date last week. They looked so cute, and I wanted a picture, so I busted out the marshmallows. Totally worth it.

All ready for picture day! Poor Coop got put in a loving choke hold.

We have had the best time in the driveway the past few weeks. Good weather makes for good times for this mama. Everyone is happier when we can bust out the tractors and soak up a little sun.

And then there is a chubby baby in a smocked bubble. She has had her hands like this for days now. I guess she discovered they exist :)

Bring on the contraptions!!! Four months always marks contraption fun for my babies. and oh boy do we ever had the contraptions! We have five in our den right now. Necessities.

Carter's 8am dance party Tuesday. Sheesh. If only I was that energetic.

You all know I like to keep it real on here. So here goes! We are loving our new normal with three kids, but don't think our lives are all cute pictures, smiley babies, and tractor rides. The truth is having three kiddos has made my life much more joyous and at the same time much more challenging. It has slowed down now that Emerson is down to eating five times a day and sleeping all night, but the logistics of everyday life are still complicated and the pace is super fast! In a nutshell, we are in the "baby pit"...by that I mean we are having to work with four naps for Emerson, one nap for Coop, five feedings for her, three meals for the boys, and two different bed times. In between and during those daily doings, we have school, grocery shopping, cleaning, cooking, the always full dishwasher and piles of laundry. And don't forget the constant interruptions of the phone ringing, "Mama, I poo pooed, come wipe me," "Coop hit me," "Carter called me a bad guy," "Mama, Coop is squirting toothpaste and making worms on the bathroom floor," "Mama, I'm thirsty, Mama, I'm hungry, Mama, draw this. Mama, find that." You get the picture. Fitting it all together, staying patient, and keeping everyone fed and rested and mostly injury free and happy has been a doozie! And it absolutely keeps me moving for 12 hours straight every day. I sit down to feed a bottle, read a book, or comfort a boo boo is about it. But besides the large work load, the hardest thing has been the PLANNING. You know I am a planner....I mean a real planner, but I have never had to plan like this before. I have to plan everything!!! I can't just run to the store for one ingredient...I have 45 kids, remember? At least that's what it feels like in Walmart with all three. Also, don't forget the naps and feedings...when would one possibly run to the store in between all that? I have to plan meals and food to the "T" so I can keep my shopping to a minimum, and I have to plan the trip the store when someone can keep the kids, so there is room in the basket for the groceries. I can't just run that pair of shoes back that didn't fit or even run the salon because the girl has a cancellation and can fit you in. I have gift credit to three different stores around town, but can't seem to find time to go! You get the picture. It's a lot! And it can feel quite claustrophobic. I told my friend, Elizabeth, the other day, that I feel trapped in my life sometimes!
Of course I wouldn't trade my crazy life for all the non-planning freedom in the world, but I would me amiss if I didn't tell you it's not all peaches and cream. It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life! But thankfully, the most rewarding. Joel's aunt pulled me aside at a wedding this weekend and told me that she was proud of me for working so hard and that by having children and raising them in the Lord, I am doing the most important job in the world. How encouraging is that?! Made my day. Us mamas need to hear that, don't we? It's all unto the Lord....the "God who sees me", remember? Don't forget it, mama friends. (I am preaching to myself!) He sees every diaper changed, every spanking given, every kiss, every wipe, every meal, every snack, every car seat buckled. He sees you. And your work is a sweet fragrance to Him. So keep it up, and as Elisabeth Elliot said, "Just do the next thing." Focus on the giggles, the hearts you are molding, and mostly importantly the One in the baby pit with you.

Stats

Emerson went for her four month check up yesterday and checked out once again as a happy, healthy, thriving baby. Praise the Lord!
Here are her stats:
18 pounds! 97th percentile
25 inches 94th percentile
Head circumference 86th percentile
Needless to say, our growth is not an issue. She is a big girl who loves her bottle! We don't produce scrawny babies over her in this household :)
I love her and all her squishiness!

Four Months

This little bundle of joy is four months old today. She is, giggling, always smiling, loving baby toys, kicking constantly, scooting on the carpet while laying on her back, wiggling and swatting the air the entire time she eats her bottle, has had a few tastes of rice cereal, is chubby, chubby, chubby, and has the entire family wrapped around her finger. She is quite possibly the most loved little girl on the planet.

Happy Four Months, Emerson!
She goes for her check up tomorrow, so I'll post her stats then.

Some Firsts

First great pic of all three that I've taken! Still getting used to my new camera. Love this jewel.

 First taste of rice cereal.

As crazy as it sounds, it is going to be a sad day when we are finished with this high chair. As I was pulling it down from the attic this morning, I found myself smiling and remembering all the giggles, messy faces, thousands of spoonfuls of baby food, and sweet memories of my boys that chair holds. Sister made her first contribution to the sweetness of that old, crappy high chair this morning with her first taste of cereal. Sorry to sound so cheesy. I mean let's get real, the thing will be in my kitchen for a solid year starting today....I need to get a grip. I can't even begin to think such thoughts about our crib! I might turn into a big bowl of weepy mush if I go there. I'll spare you.

She didn't seem too crazy about the cereal. Can't blame her. Neither of my boys loved rice cereal either. Once they learned to swallow it, we went straight to veggies and never looked back.

First time in her summer sun hat!

Sister's first time at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory...a hot spot for us each summer.

Her first time at the annual Grove Bowl.

Coop's first attempt at crossing his eyes. Bahahaha! What a funny kiddo!

And lastly, some of Emerson's first giggles.

Picture Overload

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, so I have tons of pics to post. I'll limit myself for your sake :) I have a picture taking problem. It's my only hobby right now, so I take it to the extreme! But I accomplish two things by all my pics...It's fun for me, and I am documenting my babies' lives well. So I have no plans of slacking up on my obsession. It's just too fulfilling to capture the perfect little smile or the sweetest face or the funniest moment.
Here are few from the past couple weeks...well a little more than a few:
Sister in another one of my dresses. I absolutely love putting her in my dresses. Mom friends, NEVER sell/give away your girls' smocked dresses. One day she will cherish them and put them on her own little girl.

All gussied up

XOXO

She is getting so much fun. Love watching her personality start to bloom.

Sister on Easter morning right before she pooed everywhere!!!

Carter is famous for this look. He is always trying to keep a cool, serious face, but sometimes the smiles just slip right out.

His soccer season ended last week. So proud of him for playing this year and getting out there and getting so many great kicks!

Showing Coop how to play the iphone game.

 All ready for church!

Joel planted flowers in our window boxes yesterday. Makes me happy to see them when I pull into the driveway.

Oh Coop.

Hunting down the bad guys as usual.

Trying out her sea legs. I mean look at those rolls!

Another sweet cheeks picture.

Stephen and Kate sent the boys a giant box of superhero candy which included tattoos. By the end of the week, they were covered in Avengers and feeling like the coolest kids in town.

Gigi, Hannah, Bekah, and Caleb came for a visit last weekend, so Emerson got a little extra love. It's hard to keep your hands off a chubby, smiling baby :)

Cousins are so fun.

Gigi loving on Emerson.

Overdue for her nap. This picture makes me giggle.

O

We made a trip to the zoo this weekend. Beautiful day, no crowds, and excited kiddos.

E didn't find it so thrilling.

Coop got this mask in the mail from Julie, Reid, and the kids. Oh boy...is he awesome or what?

BB and Pawpaw bought this contraption along with three other contraptions for their house, and lo and behold, they ended up at our house! Yay!!! BB and Pawpaw are waaaay too nice to us. They took our junkie toys and let us borrow the nice, new ones! We will give them back  :) Emerson LOVES all her new toys.

Emerson discovered her feet this morning in the bumbo. Hee Hee

Might be my favorite picture of her yet! I mean LOOK AT HER!!! I can't handle her squishiness!

Look at this beautiful furniture. Guess what! Joel bought it for me!!!!! Ahhhhh! I went in the furniture store the other day because we need a new bed in our room. I snapped this picture on the showroom floor and sent it to Joel and told him I loved this bedroom suit and would love to get something like this one day for our room. Later that afternoon, he went up there secretly and bought it for me! I couldn't believe it! I am so excited! I was actually more excited about the gesture than the furniture. What a sweet hub I have! He made me feel so loved. I love a sweet surprise. The furniture should be here in four weeks. Cannot wait!!!

Enjoying the Final Four.

A tired boy getting a lift from Dada. We love our Dada!
