Carter's Wheel Day

Carter's school had a Wheel Day last week where all the kids brought a riding toy from home and wore their matching T-shirts. Carter had a blast with all those riding toys...a little boy's heaven!

Happy 101 Award

My friend Jaime (our boys go to the same preschool, and we instantly became friends...Jaime, we MUST get together soon! This is sad that we have gone this long without getting together.) gave me this blog award. It's my first blog award! And since Carter is at school today, and Cooper is napping, it gave me something fun to do :)

So the idea is that you list 10 things that make you happy, then you pass the award along to other bloggers you know. I need to think about things that make me happy...it's good for the soul.

1. A good quiet time with the Lord! These are hard to come by with a newborn and a toddler, and I have missed them over the past few weeks. Lately when I get a chance, I have been reading this devotional book titled Sincerely...Gigi by Gigi Graham, and it is fantastic. If you are a mom, you must get this. It's super old, and you can get it on Amazon for like a dollar.

2. My boys...Joel, Carter, and Cooper. I know this is an obvious one and technically, it's not a "thing" but they make me so happy. I just love them :)

3. Spending time with my mom...she is my best friend, an incredible encourager, a gigantic help with my boys, and she is so much fun.

4. Swinging on our wood swing in our front yard on a beautiful day.

5. Hanging out with the girls. I am fortunate enough to have a husband who is willing to keep the boys and give me girls' night out quite often. When I come home from being with the girls, I am always so refreshed. (Thanks, Joely!)

6. Going on a date. I absolutely LOVE when Joel and I get to go on a date together. Usually it's just going to dinner and maybe getting some ice cream afterwards, but they are one of the highlights of my life. Good conversation over a glass of wine or maybe a Blue Moon with my Joel is hard to beat.

7. Documenting my boys' lives...taking pictures, videoing, making their baby books, etc...

8. Giving someone a "happy." I like to give happies to Joel in his lunch or to a friend who needs encouragement or just for a surprise.

9. Diet Dr. Pepper...gotta have one everyday!

10. The Beach...I look forward to going every year. I love the sun, the shopping, the seafood, the pool, all the junk food we buy....I love it all.

Okay, so there you go...I feel like I could keep going, but it said to only do ten, so now I pass this award on to some friends:

I pass it to Julia Williams, my college freshman roommate who I have some of my most treasured memories with. She makes me laugh, and she loves life!

I pass it to Nancy Simmons, my dear dear friend here in Memphis who has been such a blessing in my life over the past two years. We have raised our babies together :)

I pass it to Stacy Tittle...my life long friend. I love this girl! We grew up together, went to church together, went to camp together, played softball for ten years together... basically we were together our entire childhoods :)

Cutest Baby on the Block

One of Joel's clients, the Olivers, gave these socks to Cooper. Aren't they hilarious? I just love them. They gave us a whole box of them in all different colors. They make me smile.

Mr. Independent

Carter is into doing everything by himself lately including feeding himself. We are using LOTS of paper towels lately :)

Cooper in his swing...once again. Love this position!

Look at those cheeks!

So serious :)

Cooper's First Bath

The cord finally fell off, so Cooper had his first bath yesterday. He seemed to really like it until I started pouring water over his head to rinse the shampoo. It brought back lots of memories when I got the infant bath tub down from the attic. I feel like I was just bathing Carter in it a few months ago! Time has really flown.

Cooper is such a laid back baby! I hope he stays that way. Lots of people tell me that babies "wake up" around three weeks and start getting fussy....we are hoping that's not the case with Cooper :) He rarely cries, and he even slept six hours straight last night!!! I was so thankful. I am not counting on it to happen every night since he's still so young, but I sure enjoyed that long stretch last night!

Two weeks already!

I actually got a semi-decent picture of the two of them! Aren't they the best looking boys you've ever seen?

My mom has been here for the past two weeks, and she just left today :( I am super super sad she is gone! But at least she is just 45 minutes away and has promised me that she will come back at any time if I need her. Thank goodness!

I don't know what I would have done the past two weeks without her. She was a huge help with the boys and a major support emotionally. The first two weeks are so tough with a newborn, and everyone needs a mom like mine to be there for them. I feel so blessed to have her. Carter isn't going to know what to do without his playmate next week. He has started calling her Baboo instead of her actual name which is BB. It's so cute to hear him say it.

I can't say thanks enough, Mom, for being so good to me and for being such a great grandmother to my boys! I love you, and I am so blessed to have you.

Friday morning my mom fixed Carter a waffle with syrup. We looked up a few minutes later and the plate of syrup was on his head! Needless to say, it was a sticky mess, and we went straight to the bath tub :)

Cooper loves his swing. He spends LOTS of time in it.

We have been trying to keep Cooper awake for a few minutes after each feeding, so he'll sleep better at night, so Carter decided to help me out.

Overall, things are going really well at our house! Cooper seems to have his days and nights straightened out and has started giving me a four hour stretch every now and then. Carter is still just as happy as can be and hasn't shown any sort of jealousy yet. Joel and I are doing great too, and loving having two boys. We are so blessed!
